3 Days In New York City

The city that never sleeps is definitely not a travel destination that can be overlooked. From the busy streets of honking taxies to the bright lights and overwhelming atmosphere of Times Square, this city truly is like not other. I have been to New York quite a few times, always seeing and exploring something new each time and I have compiled for you some of the best things to do, places to eat and hotel to stay in while in New York for only a few days, so that you can get the most out of your trip!

The beautiful thing about New York, is that it is an easy destination to get to from anywhere around the world. I am from Toronto, so for me it is only a quick 1.5-2 hour flight!

Where to stay:

One of my absolute favorite hotels in New York is the Mandarin Oriental. It is located at the top of the Time Warner Center, overlooking both Central Park and Columbus Circle. The Lobby Lounge has one of the most breathtaking views of the city, perched up high on the 35th floor, with a windowed wall view that is hard to beat.

Where to eat:

Per Se is hands down one of the most unbelievably special and unique restaurants I have been to yet. With a nine-course Chef’s Tasting Menu, astounding food presentations and more flavors than you could even imagine in each dish, this restaurant is a must when it comes to fine dining! Make sure to book reservations before hand though, because it can fill up for months in advance at times. Brace yourself for the best fine dining experience of your life!

Nobu was more than just dinner, it was a party! So alive with people, huge presentations of food and an around great place to go with friends on a Friday night. I loved the Lobster Salad with Spicy Lemon Dressing.

Filicori Zecchini is a cute little café that not only has excellent coffee, but also makes lattes and cappuccinos with the most beautiful designs on them!

EuroPan this is the ultimate spot for huge portions of delicious and indulgent meals for unbelievably cheap prices! One morning we all splurged on BELT Bagels, which were so huge that they filled us up all the way till dinner, for only $6!

Eataly is the most diverse grocery store you will ever encounter, with foods from ever different end of the world, along with samples abundant throughout, this hidden gem of a place is a must see. The first time I discovered it was completely by accident, thinking it was a small coffee shop, so I stopped in…little did I know I would stay for hours exploring cheeses, meats, caviar and sweet treats!

What to see and do:

Central Park is a must see, as it is truly the most peaceful spot in the city, where you can escape from all of the hustle and bustle. I would recommend a stroll early in the morning, or in the evening after dinner, where it is alive with all forms of exercisers from runners to cyclists.

The High Line is an incredible linear elevated park that allows you to see Manhattan’s West Side from a completely different perspective! It is open to the public and built on a beautiful historic freight rail line. Definitely something you cannot miss seeing!

Chelsea Market is the most incredible place for all foodies, making all of your food dreams come true! With so many options from fresh juices to custom designed New York cookies to an incredibly vast variety of fresh seafood. You could spend endless hours wandering, eating and just simply enjoying life here!

Enjoy,

Brigitte
